Frequently asked questions:
Does Dr. Rushall recommend Dry Land Training?
This is a very common question, since Dry Land Training has received a lot of attention over the past several years. Dr. Rushall addresses this in some detail in the DVD Seminar. The short answer is that the USRPT approach is based on specificity of training for muscle and brain adaptation. Dry Land training, though it can build muscle mass and may have some cario benefits, it is not specific to the swimming environment (floating in water) nor the specific swimming techniques. As such, Dr. Rushall does not see Dry Land Training as beneficial to swimming fast. You can learn much more about this topic in the DVD series.
We do some USRPT aspects in our normal training, will we see benefits from those?
The more you learn about USRPT, you will see that it is a complete approach, based on scientific research, that addresses all aspects of swimming fast. Partial implementation may reap some benefits, but will not help swimmers reach their full potential.
Does the DVD Series include specific suggestions for weekly and daily workout schedules?
Yes. Understanding & Implementing Ultra-Short Race-Pace Training does include specific outlines for weekly training, daily training, and the underlying principles of setting up your own USRPT schedule. Coaches and Masters Swimmers have found this information particularly helpful in prepping workouts for their teams or their individual needs.
